建议的轻松6天行程

Thursday, June 11 — Day 1: Arrival & Gentle Introduction

Theme: Low-energy, maximum seating, minimal walking, built-in rest. Perfect for a 73-year-old mom.

Day 1 timeline:

TimeWhat
08:55 AMArrive at Stansted Airport
~10:00–10:30 AMArrive in central London (Stansted Express or coach)
~10:30–11:00 AMDrop bags at Bounce luggage storage near Westminster
~11:00 AM – 1:00 PMSt James’s Park — sit by the lake, relax
~1:30–2:30 PMUber Boat / Thames Clippers from Westminster Pier
~3:00 PMCheck in at the Airbnb (Tothill House, Vincent Street)
3:00–6:00 PMUnpack, rest, nap
~6:00 PMDinner nearby (Westminster / Victoria)
~10:30–11:00 AM · Arrival & luggage drop
  • Arrive at Stansted and head into central London.
  • For comfort, use the Stansted Express to Liverpool Street (~47 min), a National Express coach to Victoria (~90 min), or a pre-booked taxi/transfer.
  • Drop bags at a Bounce luggage storage spot near Westminster/Victoria, ideally booked in advance through the app.
  • If convenient, pick a location near Buckingham Palace Road or Tachbrook Street Market.
~11:00 AM – 1:00 PM · St James's Park
  • Keep the first stop flat and easy.
  • Sit by the lake, enjoy the views toward Buckingham Palace, and take as many breaks as needed.
  • If you want a snack or tea, stop at St James's Park Café.
~1:30–2:30 PM · Uber Boat by Thames Clippers
  • Walk or taxi to Westminster Pier for a relaxed river ride.
  • A short eastbound cruise offers seated sightseeing with landmark views and very little effort.
  • Use the Uber app for booking/payment if needed.
By 2:30–3:00 PM · Check-in at the Airbnb
  • Collect luggage and head to 33 Tothill House, Vincent Street, SW1P 4DQ.
  • Check in at 3:00 PM and use the rest of the afternoon to unpack and rest.

Getting to the apartment & check-in tips

  • By Tube: The closest station is Pimlico (Victoria line), about 8–10 minutes’ walk. The next closest is St James’s Park (Circle & District lines), about 10–12 minutes’ walk.
  • Do NOT navigate to “Tothill House, Vincent Street” in Google Maps — it may take you to the wrong spot. Instead, navigate to “Regency Cafe” on the corner of Regency Street & Page Street to pick up your keys first: Google Maps link. Regency Cafe is just a landmark — you don’t need to enter or talk to staff; simply arrive at that point and follow the check-in instructions to collect your keys and find the apartment.
  • Read through the check-in instructions in advance and keep them handy on your phone at the time of check-in.

House manual — Heating

For heating, switch on the “Boiler switch” on the kitchen inner wall, if not already ON. That’s it — nothing else is needed.

Evening (~6:00 PM onward)
  • Keep dinner simple and nearby, ideally around Westminster/Victoria.
  • Aim for an early night so she is refreshed for Windsor Castle on Friday.

Key comfort tips

  • Keep walking minimal and flat.
  • Build in lots of seated breaks.
  • Use a taxi or Uber anytime a leg feels tiring.
  • June weather is usually mild, but bring layers and check the forecast.
  • Download the Uber and Bounce apps ahead of time.

~5:30–6:00 PMTaxi or Thames boat back to Westminster / Tothill House
EveningRest at the apartment (optional light snack if needed)
  • Westminster Abbey (timed entry at 9:30 AM, booked via GetYourGuide). Allow about 1 hour inside. Highlights: Coronation Chair, Poets’ Corner, the Nave, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries if time allows. Exit and walk to Parliament Square for photos before heading to St James’s Park.
  • 11:00 AM: Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace (confirmed for Friday June 12 — F Company Scots Guards with the Band of the Coldstream Guards). Great views from St James’s Park without long standing.
  • After the ceremony, rest and have lunch in St James’s Park or a nearby café before heading east.
  • Tower of London (book timed entry for ~1:30 PM). Focus on Crown Jewels, Beefeaters, and highlights. Plenty of seating inside; take your time (about 2 hours).
  • Walk across Tower Bridge — short, flat, and scenic.
  • Borough Market for early dinner (Friday hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM). Just a 10–20 minute gentle walk from Tower Bridge along the river. Ground level, lots of seating, diverse food options. Focus on a few favourite stalls. Look for seating near Southwark Cathedral or the surrounding cafés.
  • Taxi or Thames Clippers boat back to Westminster when ready.

Why Borough Market works well

  • Friday hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (perfect timing for early dinner).
  • Location: 10–20 min flat walk from Tower Bridge along the river.
  • Senior-friendly: Ground level (no stairs), lots of seating, diverse food (bread, cheeses, seafood, pastries, hot meals).
  • If tired: Shorten the market visit or take a taxi directly there and back.

Saturday, June 13 — Day 3: Windsor Castle Day

Suggested timeline:

TimeWhat
~8:30 AMLeave the Airbnb; taxi/Uber to Paddington (~20 min)
~9:00 AMTrain from Paddington to Windsor & Eton Central (~35 min via Slough)
~9:45 AMArrive Windsor; flat walk into town
~10:00–10:45 AMStroll Windsor town centre — castle exterior views, Guildhall, Crooked House
~10:45–11:00 AMWatch the New Guard march up Windsor High Street (free, no ticket needed)
11:30 AMTimed entry — State Apartments, St. George’s Chapel
~1:00–1:30 PMLunch in Windsor town
~2:00–2:30 PMOptional: short walk along The Long Walk for panoramic castle views
~3:00–3:30 PMTrain back to London; rest at the apartment
  • Use contactless payment or a rail ticket for the journey (Oyster does not cover Windsor).
  • ~10:45 AM: Watch the New Guard march up Windsor High Street from Victoria Barracks toward the castle, often with a military band. Great free viewing spots near the Guildhall or Peascod Street — no ticket needed. The full ceremony happens inside the castle grounds (ticketed), but the street procession is the most photogenic part.
  • If energy allows after lunch, a short stroll along The Long Walk — a flat, tree-lined avenue leading away from the castle — offers stunning panoramic views back toward the castle.
  • The castle is currently listed as open 10:00 AM–5:15 PM, with last admission around 4:00 PM; still check the day-of page in case hours shift.
  • Timed entry is booked for 11:30 AM (adult tickets ~£32). If mobility or access is a concern, check concession options and free companion tickets where applicable.
  • Prioritize the State Apartments, St. George’s Chapel, and the grounds. St George’s Chapel includes the King George VI Memorial Chapel, the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, King George VI, and the Queen Mother — marked by a simple ledger stone in the floor.
  • Accessibility is good, with lifts and wheelchairs available; take it slowly and use seating as needed.
  • Have lunch in Windsor town if you want a quieter break, then head back to London by mid/late afternoon for rest.

Sunday, June 14 — Day 4: British Museum & Bloomsbury

Suggested timeline:

TimeWhat
~9:30 AMLeave the Airbnb; breakfast on the way
~10:50–11:10 AMArrive at the British Museum (Tube/taxi); allow time for entry/security
11:20 AM–1:00 PMBritish Museum booked entry — Rosetta Stone, Egyptian collection, Great Court
~1:00–2:00 PMLunch at museum café or walk 5 min to Rock and Sole Plaice (fish & chips, Covent Garden)
~2:00–3:00 PMRussell Square or gentle stroll through Bloomsbury
~3:00–4:30 PMAfternoon tea (if energy allows)
~5:00 PMBack at the apartment for rest
~6:30 PMDinner at The George (55 Great Portland St, W1W 7LQ) — 10-min walk from the museum
  • Use the late morning for the British Museum and only do the highlights.
  • Good target list: Rosetta Stone, Egyptian collection, then stop for a rest in the Great Court or museum café.
  • For lunch, consider Rock and Sole Plaice (47 Endell St, WC2H 9AJ) — London’s oldest fish and chips shop, just a 5-minute walk from the museum in Covent Garden.
  • General admission is free; the British Museum timed entry is booked for 11:20 AM. Arrive 10–20 minutes early for the queue and security check.
  • In the afternoon, take a break in Russell Square or a gentle stroll through Bloomsbury.
  • Finish with afternoon tea nearby if energy allows.
  • If museum energy is low, this can become a café-and-park day instead.
  • For dinner, try The George (55 Great Portland St, W1W 7LQ) — a classic pub in Fitzrovia, about 10 minutes’ walk from the museum.

Monday, June 15 — Day 5: Cambridge Day Trip

Suggested timeline:

TimeWhat
~8:30–9:00 AMLeave the Airbnb; taxi/Tube to King’s Cross
~9:00–9:30 AMTrain to Cambridge (~50–70 min)
~10:00–10:30 AMArrive Cambridge; flat walk into town centre
~10:30–11:15 AMKing’s College Chapel; Corpus Clock (Chronophage) photo stop
~11:15 AM–12:15 PMPunting boat tour on the River Cam (seated — see Bridge of Sighs, Mathematical Bridge & Clare bridge from the water)
~12:15–1:15 PMLunch at a café or the market square
~1:15–2:00 PMGonville & Caius College (Stephen Hawking) + The Backs / Trinity & St John’s exteriors en route
~2:00–2:30 PMOptional café rest or Fitzwilliam Museum (free, indoor)
~3:00 PMEarly train back to London
~4:00 PM onwardRest at the apartment; dinner nearby
  • Train from King’s Cross or Liverpool Street (~50–70 min, frequent services). Leave ~08:30–09:30 AM for ~10:00–11:00 AM arrival. The city centre is compact and flat.
  • Highlights (gentle pace — pick what energy allows):
    • King’s College Chapel — the iconic highlight: Gothic fan vaulting and Rubens’ Adoration of the Magi (exterior + interior if open).
    • Corpus Clock (Chronophage) — a quick, mesmerizing street-level photo stop near King’s, no entry needed.
    • Punting boat tour on the River Cam (seated, relaxing, highly recommended) — the easiest way to see St John’s Bridge of Sighs, Queens’ Mathematical Bridge, and Clare College’s old bridge with no extra walking.
    • The Backs — scenic grassy river views behind the colleges; very flat and beautiful.
    • Trinity College Great Gate and St John’s exteriors are easy to admire from the street en route.
    • Market square and cafés for lunch.
    • Optional, only if energy allows: Fitzwilliam Museum (free, indoor, world-class art) as a restful culture stop.
  • Many colleges are free or low-cost to enter via the porter’s lodge; opening times vary and some close during exams or events, so check on the day.
  • Take an early train back (~3:00 PM) so she is home in good time to rest before the early departure on Tuesday.

Stephen Hawking spots (optional, easy add)

  • Gonville & Caius College (“Caius”) — Hawking was a Fellow here for over 50 years. Look for the memorial stone outside his former rooms in Caius Court and The Stephen Hawking Building. This is central and a short, flat stop near King’s.
  • Trinity Hall (where he did his PhD) and the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology (which holds a bust of him) are nearby but inside academic buildings — exteriors only unless access is arranged.
  • His funeral was at the University Church of St Mary the Great in Cambridge, but his grave is in Westminster Abbey in London — between Newton and Darwin — which you visit on Day 2.

Comfort note

Punting replaces a lot of walking and lets her see the famous bridges while seated. Keep the afternoon light and prioritise the early return over squeezing in more colleges.

Tuesday, June 16 — Day 6: Departure Day

Departure timeline:

TimeWhat
~3:30–4:00 AMLeave the Airbnb
~5:00–5:30 AMArrive at Stansted Airport
5:30 AMCheck in / security
7:35 AMFlight FR 966 departs
10:25 AMArrive Gothenburg Landvetter
  • The 07:35 AM flight means being at Stansted by ~05:30 AM.
  • From the Airbnb (Vincent Street, SW1P 4DQ), plan to leave by ~03:30–04:00 AM.
  • Best options: a pre-booked taxi/transfer (~1.5–2 hours depending on traffic) or a National Express night coach from Victoria Coach Station (~90 min, runs through the night).
  • Book transport the night before to avoid stress.
  • If there is any spare time before leaving, keep it to coffee and a quiet final sit-down rather than sightseeing.

Before you leave the apartment

  1. Throw trash away — it would be helpful (completely optional) to throw trash in the large bins in the communal area. No sorting needed — toss all in.
  2. Turn things off — but please do NOT turn off the boiler switch on the kitchen wall. Leave it as it is.
  3. Lock up — pull the apartment door on your way out and it will lock itself. Make sure it’s fully locked. Don’t forget to carry the keys with you.
  4. Return keys — return the keys to where you got them:
    • Lockbox → put them back (code: 2011)
    • Store → hand back to the storekeeper and say “Keynest drop-off”

Keynest drop-off”
